Wall space:
Insurance/Security: This building is not monitored by a reception desk, nor does WCAS have insurance for the artwork being shown. Therefore the artist must be aware of the risk or carry his/her own insurance for loss/damage for his/her artwork. WCAS will provide the wall hooks for the artwork which will provide some security in that a person cannot simply lift the artwork off the wall, the hooks need to be turned from the back before the work can be removed.
Application: The committee will review all applications. The choice of the selection committee is final.
All pieces submitted must be original works of art as per our guidelines here: https://www.westcarletonartssociety.ca/wcas-show-guidelines-standards-and-procedures.html
Applications must include:
One image of each original work you intend to show, (you may submit 2 pieces) less than 1mb each, 300 dpi. The artwork size and medium must be specified. Images should not include frames or other background, should be full-on images, and should not have watermarks or names other than the signature on the image. Images should be named with artist’s name, number and the image title i.e. Joe blogs 01‘sunrise.jpeg’.
Due to space limitations some pieces may not get into the Show.
Submitted pieces must be exhibition ready. The frame must be in good condition, dusted and clean.
If not in a frame the piece must have the sides finished either with paint, stain fabric, etc.
Because of the security hook mentioned above, the wire must be loose enough to get your hand and arm behind it for hanging.
The Artwork will not be hung if it does not meet these standards.
Artwork must remain hung until the end of the Show.
You will be notified by email upon acceptance.
Please fill out the application on the WCAS website: https://www.westcarletonartssociety.ca/hazeldean-application.html
Artwork Purchase: Artwork that is purchased will follow these steps:
Artists must make arrangements for the Purchaser to pick up the art. The Purchaser may come and pick up the artwork at the take down - permission must be sent to [email protected] by the Artist at least 24 hours in advance. The purchased art is the Artist’s responsibility – not the responsibility of the Committee.
Payment for the full purchase price will be made to the WCAS. The treasurer will deduct the WCAS commission of 5% from the payment received and then issue a payment for the net amount to the selling artist.
