KANATA CIVIC ART GALLERY HANGING AND DISPLAY GUIDELINES FOR INVITATIONAL SHOWS
This is a quick checklist. More detailed information will be sent out with acceptance notifications.
All works must be the original concept and work of the artist. No reproductions or cards will be displayed.

Canvases and Panels:
Unframed canvases/rectangular wood panels must be gallery depth (1.5 inches)
Framed canvases must be ¾” or greater. Works on circular wood panels must be ¾” deep or greater.
Works on Paper:
All works must be on archival quality paper
Framed work:
archival mat
glass must be clean
archival tape
wooden frames tightly sealed with paper on the back
metal frames backed with matboard or foamcore
OR
Unframed work:
Varnished/waxed and mounted on panel
archival glue used to mount work on panel
rectangular panel:
3/4” depth frame required,
gallery depth framing optional
round panel:
minimum .75” depth, framing optional
Photography:
All photographic work must be one of a kind OR a limited edition. The maximum number of images in an edition is 10.
Printmaking:
All prints must be one of a kind OR limited-edition prints. The maximum number of images in an edition is 10.
Frames:
All frames must be in good condition with no dents, scratches or marks.
Hanging Wall Art:
ALL art must be wired using D rings.
D rings MUST NOT show when the work is hung.
D rings must be attached to the frame, or to the stretcher. They should be placed one-third to one-quarter down the frame or stretcher.
Triangular hangers do not count as D rings.
Wire should be coated, or the ends need to be taped.
Sculpture Display:
All sculptures must be stable.
Sculptures with sharp edges need to be safely positioned.
Works that do not meet the hanging/display standards of the gallery will not be displayed.
