Hi everyone! West Carleton Arts Society invites its members and guests to join us in a Plein Air Paintout with our host Brenda Beattie!
You are welcome to come out and paint, sketch or wander about and connect with other artists. Blakeney Rapids Park is between Almonte and Pakenham. There is lots of free parking, an outhouse and picnic tables. There is no need to RSVP, just show up!
Here is the message from Brenda:
Hi Everyone,
I expect to arrive around 9 AM. and will be there until at least noon. Come whenever you wish.
Bring your lunch if you expect to stay that long or at least a snack and bug spray.
I will go rain or shine since I have a good painting umbrella and have even been known to paint in the passenger seat of my car if it's too windy or cold outside. We can meet at lunchtime, show off our paintings (or not) and eat together then decide to stay longer or go. There is no commitment, stay as long as you like, paint or take some pictures.
If you are not sure what to bring let me know and I will send you a list just let me know which media you are painting in.
Directions
Of course, there is more than one way to get there and most of you will be using a GPS. Here's the way I like to go.
I take the 417 to Exit 155, March Road/Carp (watch out there are 2 March Rd exits, you want the second one).
Turn left to Almonte. In Almonte take the second exit at the traffic circle onto Ottawa Street. Turn Right onto Martin Street / County Rd 17. After about 5 minutes turn left onto Blakeney Road. This will lead you through the village and down the hill. After the bridge, turn right into the parking for Blakeney Rapids.
I drive a black Ford Escape with small butterflies painted on it if you are wondering if I have arrived. My phone number is 613-299-8113 if you can't find me.
Hope to see you there!
