artist profile
Dianne Richardson
Oils
Dianne has an enthusiastic interest in art especially impressionism and has been inspired by some of the notable American impressionists alongside the European. Having studied art through numerous venues, she explores works of nature that ripple with reflected light, cast shadows, subtle value transitions, and portray a quiet and fleeting moment in time that may otherwise go unnoticed. She works largely in oils and primarily uses palette knives to execute her work. Each painting is layered with vivid colours, blended and mixed on the canvas through scumbling, using impasto techniques and colour relativity,
Over the past few years, she has been focussing mostly on still life and landscape and has explored some abstract work. Currently she is working on 2 different series. One that portrays ponds and water lilies and the other on woodland winter scenes.
Dianne lives in the Madawaska Highlands, located near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
