I am a local, mixed media artist currently residing in the beautiful town of Almonte, Ontario. I am a self-taught artist inspired by my great love of nature and I now paint full time from my home studio.
With family roots from Eastern Canada, many summers were spent playing by the sea. It was from there that I was driven to capture the beauty of the many beaches and coastlines. I began painting and drawing as a child and learned early on to transfer my love of the natural world to canvas, driftwood, walls, boards or any material where my inspiration guided me.
More recently, I have adopted a technique using epoxy resin and pigment to create realistic ocean paintings. This technique uses multiple layers of resin and pigment to produce a multidimensional, ocean and wave effect. Many of these paintings are embellished and sculpted with recycled materials, genuine seashells, stones and beach sand that I have collected from my travels. Some of these paintings can take weeks to produce but truly are a labor of love and I hope to evoke a sense of appreciation for the natural world.
