Christiane Kingsley

Christiane Kingsley is an award winning fine arts painter who works in watercolour, acrylic,oil and mixed media. She feels that painting is part of her DNA: on her mother’s side, she can trace professional /amateur painters back four generations.
Christiane’s artistic journey started on a part-time basis over thirty years ago when she started to create and sell wholesale one-of-a-kind hand dyed and handwoven silk scarves. The dyeing process fine-tuned her colour mixing sense and the transition to painting was seamless and logical.
After a career as a high-school teacher, Christiane joined the Public Service and retired as a Director in 2010. Since her retirement, her art has become a full-time adventure which she loves passionately.
She has been very involved in the Ottawa arts community over the last decade. She served for two years on the board of directors of the Foyer Gallery, the executive of the Ottawa Art Association and was the Gallery Coordinator for the Nepean Fine Arts League. She was also the art co-curator for the Café 111 Lisgar Gallery in the Ottawa City Hall building until the café closed in 2019
Christiane is an explorer at heart and loves to try new surfaces and techniques. She started with watercolour, then added acrylics, mixed media and oils. In the past two or three years, her work tends to moves back and forth between impressionistic oil florals and acrylic abstracts. Almost all of her work wants to evoke feelings of joy and serenity.
As a life-long learner, Christiane has studied with several internationally-known artists such as Linda Kemp (Canada), Jacqueline Gnott (Indiana), Caroline Jasper (Florida), John Bayalis (Florida). For the past three years, she has been taking regular online classes with well-known floral oil painter Nancy Medina from Texas.
Christiane’s work can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, USA, Australia, Europe and Great Britain.
