Jason Hickman
Reclaimed rigid form and expanding foam
On and off for 7 years now I have developed and perfected techniques to be able to use (transform recycled and reclaimed rigid commercially used foam into fine art quality, gallery ready, artwork (works of art)).
With this medium I am able to build up with pressurized spray foam (expanding foam), break down with chemicals, sticks, bricks, and rocks to show a great variety of textures unachievable with a normal flat canvas. This is my `base`, from there I am able to paint abstract landscapes, wildlife studies, and oceananic life.
My intention is to invoke an emotional response attraction to the elements I have created, weather it is from the water/life/texture/colors I have painted to draw the viewer to a different place.
My work can be very large or small, hung on a wall or sculptural in nature. Some pieces are unframed while other have a some stained pine shadow frame. My artwork is heavily textured. The textures also allow light to play a role in how the piece "picture" completes itself.
My artwork allows me to express my passion and experience from my life growing up in the Maritimes and Newfoundland.
