artist profile
Trudy Daley
I was born in northern Germany, in a little town called Soest, which dates back all the way to the Middle Ages. The town was influenced greatly by the arts and I was introduced to all kinds of arts at an early age by an uncle who was the editor in chief of the local newspaper. My passion was always in the arts, in music (classical) and other cultural events.
After high school and college with a business degree in languages , I decided to immigrate to Canada.
With a busy life and a full-time career in the Public Service, marrying and raising a family, unfortunately there was little time for the arts.
Retirement has given me the long awaited privilege of fulfilling my desire to paint. I concentrated on this by taking art classes at different Ottawa Institutions like Wallacks, Ottawa U., Nepean Creative Arts Centre. My works have evolved over time by self-study representing images of depth that take the viewer into the subject at hand to share my views. When creating impressions of nature or images from my travels, art provides me with a state of relaxation, mindfulness and concentration on the subject at hand
Although mainly self-taught, my love of painting has inspired me to create pieces of art for a number of years .
My first love is nature which I try to depict in all its beauty reflecting realism and figurative styling but representing the subject in a way to reflect my own perception. I paint mainly in oils and acrylics but have tried other mediums as well.
Having travelled extensively, both in Europe, North America the Caribbean and South America, my subjects represent some of the places I have visited including the place where I was born.
