My paintings are a reflection of my personal thoughts and emotions. I work intuitively, without conscious awareness of content. I have a feeling or thought that I try to force into the open so that I may see it more clearly, understand it better. That is one of the joys of this process – to allow what you don’t even understand yourself to become revealed. The titles for my pieces always pop into my mind when I view the finished work.
That same process occurs with viewers – each viewer brings a different perspective, and each takes a different version from the viewing.
A recurrent theme in my work has been the cycle and circle of life, its layers and textures and how we are all connected in this experience. A 'new' discovery often is something 'old' that has been uncovered and found again.
These thoughts are coming out in my latest works with circles, grids, layering and scraping away to reveal a hint of what has gone before.
