John Toft: On March 2nd 2009, John Toft, a local basket-maker, took the advice of Catherine Gutsche and launched his Etsy shop under the title of JohnToftBasketry. Twelve months later his shop had achieved a total of thirty-six sales and he was completely hooked on this world of e-commerce. John’s shop offers his fine hand-made baskets for sale as well as a wonderful assortment of vintage items he and his wife accumulated over the years. His Etsy sales bring income in US dollars that compensates for his expenses in taking part in local craft shows and exhibitions.

Golden Artist Acrylic Colours: This presentation will cover the A-Z of acrylics, including pigments, color mixing, gels, mediums, surface prepping, varnishing, and more. It will also cover two recently launched, exciting new product lines: the new, slow-drying, OPEN acrylics, and the new Digital grounds, which allow you to print on surfaces such as tin foil, cloth and paint skins with your home ink jet printer.

All participants will leave with free literature, samples, and a ton of new ideas!

You have heard the stories… but are they true? Can you really earn an income from the web? You’ve seen them many times while browsing the Internet... have you ever wondered how Google ads work? How about e-books and affiliate programs? You have to be a marketing expert and a technical genius… right?

Not at all! You can create a web site that provides the opportunity to earn extra income. You don’t have to be a starving artist any more!

Frank Farrell and Cheryl Poulin discusses ways that you can use a website to generate income from Google and other online sources. It’s all about traffic and being of service. A site with great content that’s useful to the visitor is a site that will generate good traffic. And good traffic generates opportunity! More traffic, more likely you can earn active and passive income from the Internet.

Call to Artists 2010 - Carp

The West Carleton Family Health Team clinic in Carp has agreed to hang rotating shows of Abstract & Contemporary artwork. Every three months we will hang a different artist's work.

There is room for 4 to 5 large paintings. Suggested size is from 24"x30" to 30"x36", smaller if they can be paired. No deeper than 36", remember there are chairs along the walls & we do not want people to lean back on the work. NOTE: one wall is in a children's play area and should be suitable for kids to enjoy, bright & fun -- no glass in this area.

Hangings are Monday evenings at 5pm. The selected artist will meet Catherine Gutsche at the clinic and bring their work on the assigned day. The outgoing artist will meet at the same time to remove their work.

Please submit your selection of paintings to Catherine Gutsche at: cgutsche@xplornet.com Include:
Title, medium, size and price.

A rack card will be prepared and put in the clinic reception area. If someone is interested in the artwork, they will contact the artist directly. The artist is responsible for delivery and accepting payment. A 25% commission on the sale should be forwarded to Catherine once all payments clear. If the artist has a replacement painting they can arrange to meet Catherine at the clinic and exchange the work. No work is to be removed from the clinic without permission.

Hanging Schedule...
Monday Jan. 11, 2010 -- 5pm -- Catherine Gutsche
Monday March 8, 2010 -- 5pm -- Phyllis Moore
Monday June 7, 2010 -- 5pm -- Kathy McClure
Monday September 13, 2010 -- 5pm --

Call to Artists 2010 - Kanata / Barrhaven

Chéryl Poulin hangs group shows at two dental clinics, one in Kanata and the other in Barrhaven. Her curator service, which she’s named “ABOUT THE ART ON THE WALL” is already a big hit.

Chéryl loves the energy that a group show creates in a professional space. The mixed styles of various artists provide immense interest for all visitors to appreciate.

Her services pamper both the artists and the dental practitioners as she and her husband deliver, hang and promote the art on display. The practitioner and the artist are completely hands off.

The art is promoted on Chéryl’s website www.earmark-decorative-painting-studio.com/ottawa-original-art.html and all sales are processed through her business, accepting all major credit cards. The artists pay a $10 per painting hanging fee then merely wait for the sales and their payment minus a 25% commission for services rendered.

Presently, artists are being showcased at:
Dr. Sandra Chong, PERIODONTICS AND IMPLANT DENTISTRY located in the GATEWAY BUSINESS PARK, 340 March Road, Ste. 101, Kanata.

And Dr. Peter Ziereisen, DENTISTRY @ CEDARVIEW 2, CEDARVIEW SQUARE, 101-4100 Strandherd Drive, Barrhaven.

To learn more about immediate opportunities to hang YOUR works please call Chéryl at 613-832-4099 or e-mail earmark@guideline-itc.com. All media accepted.
